brake fluid leak - please take a look!
i haven't had a chance to get up under the car yet because i had to go to work......but i snapped a quick pic and just wanted to see what you guys think? what might i be getting into? i got in my '90 crx si today and noticed that the brake pedal was easy......checked the fluid level and there was none, then i noticed the leak from under the car. it is on the passenger side near the back of the door........so what's under there in that area? is it a hard line?
so i guess this is a hard line........is it hard to replace? where should i even buy this part?
can someone point me in the right direction of a "how to" on replacing this line.....i'm not having much luck searching on here or googling......

not the hard line, on our cars the rear hard lines run down the passenger side of the car on the inside under the carpet. check your soft lines, those could be leaking and running down the trailing arm and dripping there
That is kindof an odd place for the solid lines to be dripping. Like mentioned above is it wet inside the car? Check the rear right for leaks.

That picture is the passenger's side + rear fender. Your gonna have to get underneath the car to see where the leak is coming from.
BTW: Do the had-lines run inside the chassis on the EF? I see my rear hard lines poke out of some grommets in the wheel well.

finally got around to searching for this leak.....i found the leak inside the car. Someone mentioned it was an odd place for a leak, and it is. But I can tell you what happened. At some time in the past someone had drilled a hole under the car up into it. This hole was right beside the brake line and i guess they nicked the line. Through the years i guess it eventually rusted out in that spot and you can see the fluid shoot out of a tiny pinhole surrounded by rust.
so...........now that i've found the leak, how do i fix it? I have a friend who was talking about cutting the small section of line out and piecing a new one in.......but the way he was talking was using compression fittings. I am by far no mechanic (not even close, really), but can it be done this way safely, or should i stay away from this option altogether and study up on how use a flaring tool?

Compression fittings work well. I use them at work all the time.
But there are some rules that need to be followed. The pipe has to be round with no dimples or other major surface unevenness. If the compression ring is soft material it works better than some cheaper fittings with hard rings.
I would give it a try. You don't loose anything if it wouldn't work. You can remove the rings with pliers.

is it even legal? I'm in VA........of course, i don't know how someone would even check it during an inspection anyways, being as to it'll be inside the car under carpet. After searching and more searching, I still feel like i should be doing it with double flares.......i keep reading so much bad stuff about it, especially since it's a high pressure brake line......

honestly? i'd see if your local pick n pull or what ever you call it there has a crx parts car with a non hacked brake line, and replace the whole line with a new one. why run the risk?
i think i got my leaks fixed.......used a flaring kit plus fittings. Bled the brakes........
But NOW my brake lights won't turn off?!?? Any suggestions?

My fix cost me 5 cents!! (a nickel and some double-sided tape.........so far, so good)
