1995 A/C comp. not kicking on
1995 integra, auto, 1.8, not sure what model it is, but it has power windows. anyway, when i push the a/c button, the light illuminates, my idle goes up, condensor fan kicks on as well as cooling fan, but compressor isnt coming on. i thought maybe low on freon so i bought a can of freon with a gauge on it, and its full showing at the top of the green section. i unplugged the 1 wire going to the compressor and tried putting a straight wire right from the + battery terminal and it did nothing. is the compressor shot? or is there some other way i can force it to come on just to see if it at least works? what else can i test to figure this out before i buy a compressor and not need to?
TRY HITTING THE COMPRESSOR CLUTCH SLITGHLY WITH A HAMMER OR A LONG FLAT HEAD, IF THAT DOESNT WORK TRY PUTTING DIRECT POWER INTO IT IF THAT STILL DOESNT WORK THEN UR GONNA NEED A NEW COMPRESSOR BRO.. I WORK DOING AC ON CARS ALL DAY AND THATS USUALLY THE PROBLEM, U CAN ALSO CHECK ONE LAST THING THE "HIGH PRESSURE SWITCH" MIGHT ALSO BE OUT.. GOOD LUCK
Check all your fuses first. Then jump the compressor clutch relay located on the right side fan shroud. To jump the relay, put a jumper between the White and Red wire terminals and see if the clutch clicks on. If the clutch does not come on (which I suspect it won't) when you jump the relay, you know its either the wires powering or grounding the clutch from the relay or the clutch itself it bad. As said before, try tapping the clutch to engadge it to see if it is sticking. You may need to check the adjustment of the clutch as well, but probably not. If the clutch is bad, you can change that without changing the whole compressor.
If you can engadge the compressor by jumping the relay, then try jumping the low pressure switch and the high pressure switch to check if they are bad or if you are low on R134.

To check compressor clutch, check to see if you are getting batt voltage to the compressor clutch field coil after you jump the relay. The compressor clutch relay should be on the right side fan shroud. Then check the resistance of the ground wire of the compressor clutch field coil.
If the coil had batt volt and a good ground and still does not activate, check the resistance of the feild coil.
Field coil resis: 3.6 +/- 0.2 ohm at 68*F(20*C)
