99 type r rear wheel bearings interchangeable with other model Hondas?
Whaddup H-T,
Haven't posted up in a Longg time, my R restoration is almost done i will have a big pic thread up in the next week hopefully of all the work that's been done, it's been adding up over the last 2 months.
Well I need to replace the 2 rear wheel bearings (5 bolt hubs, ABS) and I would like to use other Honda models if they are interchangeable to avoid paying the bloated type r price, which is 90$ more each side locally.
I tried 98 2 door accord v6 rear bearings but the abs reluctor wheels were 1/8" too big, if someone knows which bearings I ould use please help me out! I'd like to buy them today so i can pick up my car Friday night!
Thanks in advance!

I have not looked into it recently, but I do not recall Honda selling the rear wheel bearings independently of the hub. The ITR had wider rear wheel bearings compared to other Integras. The exact wheel bearing dimensions are in the 1997 Helm's Type R supplement if I recall correctly.
It's called a Generation-2 type bearing. That means the hub IS either the outer or inner race of the bearing. In this case it's the outer. There is no separate bearing to buy as it's all one unit.

A Gen-1 bearing is like the integra front wheel bearing. Both inner & outer races have to be pressed. These are the cheapest, but the most difficult to install. Also they don't have ideal tolerances due to variables beyond manufacturing control (ie hub & knuckle being pressed).

A Gen-3 bearing has a built-in hub AND a built in bracket so it's completely bolt on. These are the most expensive. But the benefit is they can be manufactured to tighter tolerances since they don't have to take into account for distortion due to pressing inner and/or outer races. In theory they are the longest lasting.

BTW: OEM Integra bearings are made by NTN. You can usually buy them in an NTN box for a lot less if you can find the NTN part numbers. I got my NTN Front wheel bearings for like $45 shipped vs the best Honda online price of $105+. A quick search shows it's NTN part number W0133-1709109. Google is showing $114 shipped here: http://www.google.com/search?q=W0133...w=1278&bih=685
But with online coupons I'm sure you can do better. Also this is a universal bearin industry part number. If you can find the actual NTN part number, I would wager you can get an even better price.

The NTN part number for the rear ITR hubs is HUB186-6. FinditParts.com is showing $106 each. Call to confirm stock & brand name for anyone thinking about ordering though. This place has been known to ship other brands when ordering NTN.

Sorry i wasnt clear enough, i meant the whole hub bearing assembly as one unit but i was trying to use accord assemblies in order to have the option of choosing economy or premium options in the units but it didnt work out. I ended up getting a good deal on OEM so i am happy knowing i got the proper ones, one less thing to worry about...
Thanks for all the help guys its truly appreciated, i pick up my R from the mechanic tomorrow morning, havent hit Vtakk in about 6 years! so yeah i am itching pretty bad.
