Default Civic LX 1998: Distributor or Coil???

I'm not getting electricity on the spark plugs. How do I know which one is bad? The coil or distributor?

Does the fuel pump prime?

Do all 4 spark plugs lack spark? If so, does the distributor coil and ICM get voltage? You can find distributor diagnosis diagrams in the FAQs sticky.

Any CEL codes?

Has the timing belt snapped or stripped?

1. The fuel is running through the filter, so I'm guessing it's okay.
2. I'm not getting any electricity out of all four plugs.
3. I don't know yet. I don't know how to check either. But #4 will answer my question.
4. I will get back to you after I check.
5. No.
6. The timing belt is not broken, but I don't know if the timing is right or wrong.

I checked under the oil cap and I don't see any movement.
Is this a big engine damage? Should I swap the engine to another one with lower mileage?

The current one already has 275K miles. And I had been putting water into the radiator for a couple of years. Recently I flushed with coolant. After I towed my car into my parking lot the coolant leaked in front of the driver's side below the headlight.

I checked the engine oil. It's good and I changed it a couple weeks ago.

How are these things related?
I get electricity to the distributor, but none comes out from there.

Remove the 15A hood ECU fuse and the distributor cap. Then watch whether the rotor turns while you crank the engine.

Spark requires the distributor to turn.

If the rotor does not turn, check whether the timing belt is snapped or stripped.

A broken timing belt does not always lead to engine damage.

The rotor does not turn. How do I know if the timing belt is stripped? What parts do I have to remove?

Remove the valve cover and upper timing belt cover to inspect the timing belt. If you turn the crank pulley counterclockwise with a breaker bar on the crank bolt, does the cam pulley turn?

If you dodge the engine damage bullet, pinpoint this leak. Start by checking the water pump after you have the crank pulley off to install a new timing belt.

Has the timing belt been changed? ever? Sounds like the water pump seal.

Make sure you change water pump and oil pump with timing belt. The tensioner too. Or for the price you can save a little an swap a b16.

The timing belt is broken. Do I need a jack to change the timing belt? And do I have to pull out the flywheel?

Yes, you need a jack, two breaker bars, 17-mm deep socket, special hex tool, PB Blaster, and miscellaneous other tools.
