Hey everyone, appreciate it if you're taking time to read this. Yes, I did do multiple searches but nothing really helped yet. TIA.

So found out my 1,2,3, and 4 are misfiring after I started up my car and immediately knew something was wrong. Sounded weird almost like a Subaru with exhaust, rough idle and bogging out while accelerating with the check engine light coming on for the first time ever since I've had the car and blinking at certain times during acceleration. I'm thinking this is a coil/cap problem so I get the parts plus some others than needed replaced (rotor, fuel filter, intake filter, plugs and wires).

I replaced the plugs and wires and took my dizzy cap off. First thing I notice is there's no leak guard and second thing I notice is no set screw on the rotor! So obviously you know the rotor is rusted onto the shaft, and I cannot get it off and I really don't want to take the dizzy off unless I have to. Tried to get to the rotor with lubricant, a flat head and a hammer but there's not very many angles with it still being on the engine. I'd try and heat it up if I knew I wouldn't mess anything up. Any help would be great as am I just about to put everything back on with the new cap and see if maybe that was the problem, but I'm probably not that lucky. If that does work would it be okay to just use the set screw from the new rotor and put that in? Couldn't believe it when I saw that! Thanks again.

 

Consider removing and disassembling the distributor.
