Default 98 Civic EX- pesky P0325 CEL

like the title states, i have an annoying CEL for my knock sensor. lets get some backround info, shall we?

okay so a couple of months ago, i blew up my oil pan from being moderately low in a construction zone (hit a manhole). after a wrong diagnosis, we were led to believe i'd need a new engine. so my step dad and his best friend undertook duties to remove my engine. when the engine was out of the car is when we learned it was just my oil pump. a week later, with the engine back in the bay, my car is running again but with a check engine light. i check it with a code reader, and its a p0325 (knock sensor malfunction).

now i've had this light on since april and i dont think that its detrimentally damaging the health of my engine. i would've solved the problem 4 months ago; its just that a.) OEM is the way to go with these sensors and that'll run you $150 + b.) the knock sensor is very unreachable

is it okay to be running with a faulty/non working knock sensor? i know what knock sounds like and i dont have any.

TL;DR: CEL for knock sensor. what do?
