91 honda hb 1.5l
Hello all, Recently me and my cousin have started a project on a 91 civic the crank/rod bearings were bad so we rebuilt the motor new bearing, new crank, new rings, and all new gasket set. The problem we are having is the car does not want to start without pouring gas down the intake, it has fuel pressure at the intake and will run on its own once it starts. it has spark when turning it over but just doesn't seem like its getting fuel when cranking? and the other problem is we cant seem to get it in time, we think we have it as in it idles perfect but when we rev it up it backfires and pops and sputters. If anyone has any suggestions please put them we are running out of ideas on how to work on this thing,
Thanks
Thanks

4: CKP Sensor (Crankshaft Position Sensor)
defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor
16: Fuel Injector System
defective circuit or unplugged / defective fuel injector
your probably swapped the connectors for the sensors or dont have everything plugged in correctly. Make sure you are setting your mechanical timing with the correct markings, your cam gear should have 2 different markings for the 1.5L and 1.6L engines. Obviously you want to use the 1.5L marks. Once you get it running get a timing light and set your distributor timing.

OK, thanks for letting me know what that stood for. As far as the CKP sensor goes the person that had the car before us put a new distributor on it I know new parts can be bad from the get go is there anyway I can test it?
and would it be the top injector? I would think so because it doesn't open during cranking and it wont rev above 3-4 grand, I think I read that that injector comes back on again above a certain rpm?

did you take the motor out of the car? Im thinking that when you put the motor back in you put the wrong plugs on the sensors. some are so similar they will fit onto the wrong sensors.

its possible,is the fuel pump priming when you turn the key to the on position? did you have this problem before you took the motor out? ive noticed though (atleast with the couple i had) that the main relay kinda wears out first, after a couple turns of the key on and off itll eventually kick the fuel pump on
Yea it primes we can hear it and if we take the fuel line off the intake when the key is on it squirts gas everywhere. So most likely the main relay then? We did the main relay test hooking power and ground to 4 and 8 prongs then tested the 5 and 7 prongs with a light tester and nothing so I guess we did it right? And that would mean it is bad?
