Default 91 Honda Idle sticking

Now I know why the idle is sticking. It is due to the throttle cable staying open a bit. However I do not know why the cable is sticking.

The cable was replaced last year for the same problems that this cable is now causing me. Whenever I step on the clutch the revs fall slower and the idle sticks a little high. All I have to do however is lift my foot underneath the pedal and the idle goes back to normal. I was thinking that it could possibly the accelerator pedal return spring. Though I can not get one new from honda and I am a bit unsure to begin with. What else could be causing this?

Shot in the dark, but maybe the coil spring on your throttle body is gummed up and causing it to stick. My other guess would be like you said, maybe the pedal itself is sticking.

The coil spring seems to be clean and functioning normally.

Also it works perfectly in cold weather.

Also the pedal kind of has a dead zone. Right when you press it, it goes down a bit then it actually pulls the cable. Does everyones do that?

I wonder if I am missing the 21 and the two 3s

If I remember right that model has an iac, possible carbon buildup on the valve. Is it consistent all the time, if not can be tps.

its temperature mosstly. can be remedied by sticking foot under the pedal.

Is it a dead spot in the pedal assembly itself without the car running? Like, does it feel like it has slack in the cable? Or is it only noticeable when the car is running?

Its in the pedal assembly itself. I looked underneath and can see the pedal move to the right a bit. Then after that it pulls the cable.

The car revs great, no dead spots noticeable.

Okay so I am thinking that it could possibly be the grease inside the cable itself. When I pressed on the gas pedal by hand I saw that there was a black substance on the cable itself. I am wondering if the grease is getting tacky when hot.

Anyone else running into a problem like this?
