Default ek civic manual transmission ignition question

i have a 98 civic hx that had a front end rebuild and they replaced the motor with that of a obd2b d16y7 and they had replaced the engine and cabin harness with the proper obd2b harnesses. the car was an automatic. i converted it to 5 speed using the automatic harness and altering it as necessary. i had used a wire nut to cap off my splice of the wires to make the car show park so it would start with the key and release the key when shut off. the wire nut eventually fell off and the wires grounded which resulted in it shorting out some stuff. so i replaced the engine and cabin harness with that of an si so now i have the proper manual plugs and such. i also replaced the main relay because it had fried it and replaced the obd2b p75 ecu with an obd1 pr4 since my car has a B18B1 swap. i have also replaced the starter because the ignition wire had broken off inside the starter. i checked the fuses in the dash fuse panel and have put the horn relay in the spot for the starter cut relay. the car still won't start with the key. i have double checked all grounds under the hood and in the dash. it will push start and run. so my question is what else is there that could have been damaged by the wires grounding out. are there anymore fuses that i could check. and the clutch interlock switch is good. i have tested it. please help.

Did you install a CIS, [clutch interlock switch] and wire it to the starter relay?

Try a bypass jump to confirm starter/starter solenoid are working and test the start circuit... https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...cm+bypass+jump
Let me know what you find. 94

i installed a whole 5 speed harness for the cabin. it had the wiring already done for the clutch interlock switch. and the clutch pedal i installed has a working interlock switch. and the 5 speed harness i installed is a new one straight from honda so it should be done right i would like to assume.

Try the bypass jump and circuit test to determine where the problem is. 94

oh lordzz...

i can't remember if the ek's have the switch on the auto shifter or a neutral safety switch on the tranny.. either way, find one of them and jump the pins in the plug so that the light on the dash is either P or N.

they have a switch on the shifter itself. but i removed all that when i replaced the automatic cabin harness with the standard one. and i jumped the starter and it started right up. runs a little rough but thats for a later time. i'm just trying to get it to start with the key. so knowing that the starter is grounded enough that it started where else should i look. i have replaced the 40 amp IG fuse in the underhood fuse box and used a horn relay out of another car for the starter cut relay spot (they are supposed to be the same part). i've double, triple, and quadruple checked the grounds. and as i've stated, the car has all 5 speed wiring now. nothing automatic is left except the gauge cluster and soon to be replaced with an SI cluster once i can get it going reliably. so some incite on where to start next would be much appreciated.

and to add. i had drove the car for a while after doing an auto to manual conversion with a d16y7 in it and the motor got a rod knocking so i swapped in a b18b1 out of my totaled 92 hatch and drove the car a while. the automatic cabin harness had some wires short out and fried some stuff and that's when the car quit starting by key. so upon that happening i replaced the auto harness with one from a em1 civic and the problem persists.

OK, one more time.

Do a bypass jump and starter circuit test as explained in the link I provided.

Unless you do the test suggested all we can do is guess where the problem is, the tests will narrow down the problem, maybe the used horn relay you used to replace a missing starter relay, [starter cut relay] is bad, but I am just guessing. 94
