Default ***92 Civic w/ JDM B16a swap horribly slow

Barely goes up hill, slower than my 99 dx.

So I bought the car online and got screwed (imagine that). It's got the obd1 b16a in it with a jdm p30 ecu, short ram, and 2 1/4" exhaust. Not 100% sure all the wiring is right but it appears to be. Also I replaced the spark plugs. The only cel code was for the vss and i replaced that so no cel anymore. I removed the cat and it was clogged so I beat that thru temporarily until I know if I'm keeping the car. There is a 4 wire o2 in the stock location but there's a 2 wire o2 coming straight out of the cat? Idles pretty well, not perfect though. The exhaust is just a muffler shop exhaust. I was thinking about driving open header to see if somethings wrong with the exhaust

Any ideas?

So frustrated, I always said I'd never buy a car someone else worked on. I did and got screwed. Stupid me. HEEEEELLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!

And it doesn't smoke, no leaks, doesn't overheat, and no oil in coolant or vice versa.

Timing is definitely off. Align your crankshaft pulley marks, then pull off the valve cover and check marks on cam gears.

I would first do this,
then get the correct o2 sensor installed,
And just go through in correct order troubleshooting everything pertaining to the symptoms

I would start by inspecting the timing marks on the belt, then id move onto the distributors position and also check for vacuum leaks. i once had a slight leak in my intake manifold and i felt like the motor was sooooo far off timing. once i fixed the air leak the motor came back to life. hope this helps

A LS trans would not make it very slow. I am running the LS trans on my LS Vtec and it pulls very nicely.
I would check timing, do a full tune up plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, 3 part fuel service and top engine cleaning, change oil and filter, check compression and do a leak down. All good things to do on a car you just bought. Weird that it has a second O2 sensor on the cat being that it is a 92 OBD1 car and a OBD1 B16A motor. It should only have 1 O2 sensor. You may have a OBD2 cat on the car.

I can assure you that the gearing of that trans is slightly incorrect for a B-series DOHC VTEC engines characteristics in NA form.
It may pull good,
But you will have dips in your overall powerband from 1-4 gears

Although it doesnt pertain to the matter, just dont want you thinking you wouldnt be faster with GSR, B16, or R trans

night and day.

I also had one on an ls-vtec , but that's not what the op has. It can make a huge difference in an untuned b16.

Coolant was in my #2 spark plug hole. When I did a tune up I didn't notice that. But ends up it was only running on 3 cylinders. So off with its head. There was glue in the #2 spark plug hole. Figured the head was stripped and the ******* that ripped me off glued the spark plug in. Turns out the glue or whatever was sealing a crack in the head I guess. So pissed. What would cause a head to crack right there?
