which sleeves are better?
just curious which sleeves i should go for im hoping to push around 500-600hp whats the benefits or lack there of on mid, dry and wet sleeves and whats the differences in them?
i think there all good, golden eagle is one of the best on the market, alot of people dont really like open deck sleeved blocks and there some that do..still trying to find out who i want to go with.
are you talking about open decks as in the h22a4? and what would you say is the reason why people dont? I heard open decks can and or do overheat more/easier?
Which ever you can get cheaper! I've had Benson's, Darton, AEBS, Golden Eagle and LA Sleeves and they all work well. It's all in your clearances and tuning that keep the motor lasting. So in my honest opinion, which ever is cheapest.

A sunk sleeve is strictly from installation error or a bad block (which should have been spotted by the installer).
10 years on the same GE sleeved block, and 67 events.. Nah..I'll stick with the GE. One place to install, one place to yell at if there's ever a problem.

I did a few build on GE sleeve, good stuff.
I did quite a few build, about 5, on Darton sleeve, good stuff too.
I personally own a Benson block, built by Earl Laskey at the time... Good stuff, never had an issue with it, doing 540 Whp on race event, with Race fuel.
Like it was said before, cheapest bidder with the job... as long as it ductile Iron, and the installer is a professional, you will not have a problem with those 3 manufacturer.
But remember... Piston to wall clearance, on boosted application is critical, as is Ring Gap and Bearing clearance on crank and rod, Oil pressure is a serious thing to keep on check too.

I have a personal preference for benson because I've had 3 blocks built by them and never had any issues at even beyond 900whp. I like the fact that is it an open deck which promotes great cooling at the top of the cylinder, this may or may not be negligible but it makes me feel good inside. This is my favorite sleeve for a street car for this reason. On the contrary some say the open deck promotes instability in the sleeves, but I have never heard of anyone having issues.
GE would be my other choice. A few buddies have their sleeved blocks and also had no issues. I have heard all success stories. I'm not sure about the need for align honing the GE blocks, but I always prefer to stay away from line honing a honda block to keep oil pump clearances in OEM spec.

I have used la sleeves one 3 of my blocks and I love them. They make sleeves for one of the other big name company's or supplies blanks for them or something of the nature.

ERL did my block and another gsr block along with it. My block came back fully assembled, line honed, and full of metal shavings. I was a seriously pissed off customer.
The sister block sunk a sleeve.
I wish I had better stuff to say about ERL but they definitely dropped the ball when it came to my motor and its sister engine. If the shop I purchased the work through didn't have their mechanic do a complete tear down and clean out it would have ended up in court.
The motor has held up and is making good power but damn they sent me an assembled block full of Metal shavings!!

Line boring moves the crankshaft centerline. It is not a big deal as all you have to do is shave the oil pump alignment dowels to get even clearance all around the pump gear/crank snout.
Really??? Your not even smart enough to know your shop is 100ft from a river during a flood yet you leave customer product on the floor. Not once, but twice. I bet all the customers you screwed weren't laughing there *** off.
