Default ECU question about passing emissions test

does my ecu have vin identification?

i have a 98 civic with hondata s300 which i cant run the new e-tests coming in Jan due to plugging in the obd2. im worried they are going to see a incorrect vin. knowing this information will determine the future of my turbo toy... thanks for any help!

A stock Honda ecu doesnt. But my s300v2 has a vin entry for the owner if it gets stolen or something

it's not gonna work anyway, as s300 is obd1, which means no communication through the DLC.

i know my S300 is an obd1, and to change it back to obd2 would be tons of work, but if i take my buddy's 98 civic DX and plug it in, i hope im golden... changing vin on dash should be easy and it is easyer then changing injectors, installing all my evap crap, map sensors, o2's, and everything else i have in the car.

Please refrain from talking about potentially illegal activities inside of this forum.

If you choose to do illegal stuff, it is important that it is understood that it is *NOT* endorsed by Honda-Tech, therefore, shouldn't be mentioned on it.

He lives in America's hat, so what's illegal for us might be perfectly fine for him.

OP, stop worrying about it. The ECU doesn't store your VIN. Period.

illegal activities? swapping ECU's isnt illegal lol. And while changing a vin is potentially illegal (we don't know) he didnt say he would do it.

Also Honda ECU's (from that Era) have no VIN data. No OBD2A ECU's do (as far as I know).

what he's talking about doing is illegal. he's talking about plugging in someone else's car for the test.
