05 Honda Pilot MAP Value
Does anyone know what the normal reading for the MAP sensor ("HG) should be at warm idle? I'm reading 14 "HG. I have 2 codes and part of the diagnostics is leading me to the map sensor.
I changed the EGR valve and I check the water temp sensor. The EGR made a big difference in starting, idling cold and shifting.
The 2 codes came back with the VTM4 light on again and I can't seem to locate a nominal reading for the MAP sensor.

I spoke with a Honda tech and he told me the correct MAP voltage at idle should be .9V. He also said that anything >= 1.0 indicates a problem and if it jumps around there could be a stuck valve. Further research indicated the pressure should be 17-20 "HG at idle.
Yup! That was it. Had to take it to Honda and they said the valves were tight. It runs like a charm now. Even shifts better. MAP is on target, they said originally the voltage was up to 1.3V, nominal is 0.9V. They only thing that concerns me is the fuel trim, bank 1 is around -9+% and bank 2 is -2+%.
Can anyone help with Software that reads the Honda Odyssey 2005 correctly.
I have an OBDII BLuetooth unit and uses Com Port 41. The simple Serial port units cant find that port. I Tries a program called PCscan (registered) and it reads the trouble codes but thats all...no gauges or other data....tearing my hair out. Maybe someone can post a program or link to one. I am running 64 bit Windows7 on my laptop.
Cheers

Have the same problem in my o7 ridgeline.Had codes p0172 and p0175(too rich bank 1)(too rich bank 2).Did a valve adjustment and now it idles better but map reading on scan tool shows 9"hg at idle.Let it run for a long time and fuel trim is bad only on bank 2 now.Anyone know why my map reading is this low?
Same here. It took a couple months of driving before things settled in. Bank 1 showed high trim numbers but evened out. My map is around the same, 8" HG so you are good. One thing that made an improvement was to clean the throttle body. There was carbon build up and it was holding the throttle open a bit. Easy to do.
I used throttle body cleaner and an old tooth brush. I had found a you tube video on how to do it but its easy. Take off the air cleaner and plenum that connects to the throttle body. Manually move the throttle. Spray the stuff and scrub with the tooth brush. You might get a misfire or rough start but that's only from the cleaner.
