i have few paint guns i bought from harbor freignt because they were on sale( 9.99 each)
so i bought 3 of them when each of them was on sale
20 oz. HVLP Gravity Feed Spray Gun ---Average air consumption: 6 CFM @ 40 PSI
5.3 oz. HVLP Touch Up Spray Gun ----3.2-5.6 CFM @ 40 PSI
4 oz. Adjustable Detail Spray Gun ----Air consumption:3 CFM @ 50 PSI
then yesterday i bought this kit thinking it would be better than what i have
but it seems like these 2 guns are less efficient than 2 HVLPs listed above
even though the specs show
2 Piece Professional Automotive HVLP Spray Gun Kit
Required pressure: 30-35 PSI (large gun), 25-30 PSI (small gun)
Average air consumption: 9 CFM @ 35 PSI (large gun), 5 CFM @ 30 PSI (detail gun)
these following compressors look like they should be enough to run at least smaller guns
can oil compressor be used for paint or does it have to be oilless?
OIL 2 Horsepower, 8 Gallon, 125 PSI Portable Air Compressor ----Air delivery: 4.5 SCFM @ 90 PSI, 5.5 SCFM @ 40 PSI
OIL 2.5 Horsepower, 10 Gallon, 125 PSI Air Compressor ----Air delivery: 5.3 SCFM @ 90 PSI
6.2 SCFM @ 40 PSI

Compressors that run with oil can be used as long as you have a decent moisture/oil trap & those compressors are on the small side BUT doable, you just have to stop & wait for the compressor to catch up A lot
The 2 "professional" guns have a much more consistent spray pattern in my experience, but that touchup isn't bad. I wouldn't use the purple fullsize hvlp for anything serious, I had trouble with drips and splatters with that one. I like the touchup hvlp with the adjustable cup.
That being said, your compressors aren't going to like you very much for doing this. For a full-size job, you'll need to pretty much paint panel by panel and be very wary of the wet edge, using a higher-temp activator to keep the paint wet/flowing for a bit longer.

its all apart i had to do bodywork and paint the door jams so everything is off the car
i bought the 10 gallon compressor and returned that auto paint kit because the big gun was leaking from the handle as soon as i put paint in it...
i used that lil touchup gun and so far its the best one out of what i have, havent tried the big gun yet

I use the Husky HVLP gun from Homedepot. It cost a little more but works great and has very low CFM requirements. Basically any compressor will do.

better than me, i used a 3 or 5 gallon compressor with the cheap 15 dollar purple gun!
came out pretty decent. a bigger compressor would of been my friend though.
