so yea, i was coming back from a camping trip, driving about 3 hrs on the highway, and on the way home my car let out one big poof of smoke and stopped. so i pulled over and the engine seems hot, but my coolant temp readings were normal.

could my oil have gotten too hot and popped something?

the electrical system seems to be normal, and after i pulled off of the highway i tried starting it to listen to the motor. doesn't seem seized up, and it feels like i just don't have any compression.

now, i had the heads rebuilt about 3000 miles ago. decked, new valve guides, 3 new valves, new head gasket, the works.

so i'm not sure what happened, but what would happen if my oil pump died? i don't know what else it could be
