walbro 255lph = going out only after 1yr?
SETUP:
gsr turbo
350whp e85
fic 1100cc injectors
walbro 255lph fuel pump
*** STOCK FPR & rail ***
-6an inlet line with turbosmart liquid filled fuel PSI gauge
History:
I installed turbo kit & the NEW WALBRO fuel pump 5-2011
Car was tuned and driven for about 500 miles max, then car was in storage for the past 9months.
FUEL Symptoms:
I recently took the car out to tune it with my new FIC injectors (previously pte 780cc).
I noticed that at idel fuel PSI was around 25psi only.
As the tuner did pulls i notice fuel pressure would rise to about 40psi then drop back down near the top (6500rpms or so) to like 20psi fuel pressure.... because of this my powerband is somewhat choppy up top due to fuel pressure not holding steady.
Possible Issues:
1) fualty OEM FPR... doubtful but you never know..
2) bad walbro pump.... sitting in storage full tank of e85 cause it to go bad?
3) other options?

ive had friends with walbros that went bad but those cars were chronically run on 1/8 of a tank or less.
it could have something to do with the e85 but i dont know for sure

while in storage, i never even started it once.
tank was 80% full of e85 , no fuel stablizer used.
before starting the car, i did pump out the old e85 and put new fuel in there.
Ran the car for about 200 miles on new injectors & fresh e85... then finally got a chance to dyno it.

I dont know a whole lot about ethanol but I'm sure I've read several times it's corrosive and if going to be sitting best to drain tank. Someone correct me here if I'm wrong.

I want the Deatschwerks DW300 320lph but they only make it for EG/DC
what would it take to get a EG pump to work on EF?

i guess before buying new pump i should check to make sure there isn't any issue with the stock wiring..... lol

Regardless, I have personally had 3 Walbro 255 fail while I waited for somebody to release an E85 compatible "in tank" version. The 255 isn't a bad pump, it just isn't designed to be used with E85. I don't have any pictures, but all the pumps looked like clogged arteries /pipes with white corrosion. The new E85 Walbro will fit on an EF hanger with some slight modifications and wiring work around. The problem is the regular pumps aren't sealed enough...
have used walbros in e85 for my customers for more than 3 years now.
there are one in a hundred walbro's that i've sold that gone bad in few months.
cant really tell what happen. it just wont pump as much flow as the working ones.

Never let a car sit for long periods of time with e85 in the fuel system...
