Heavy Vibration in engine, struggling rpms when accelerate
Hello,
Civic LX 75k miles
I am experiencing heavy vibration in engine and RPMs are struggling to move when I accelerate specifically in,
2nd gear between 2k-4k
3rd gear between 2k-3k
4th gear between 3-4k
5th gear between 2-3k
However, this issue is not as seriouse when you accelerate very slowly, mainly when I accelerate a little hard is when this problem occurs (I am not flooring my car at all). The car runs and I drove it today 25 miles to and back from work but it does appear to be an issue not to be ignored.
Also, last week my check engine light came on so here, in first gear my car would struggle to accelerate, heavy vibration in engine, RPMS struggled to rise when I accelerated. Yes, very similar but at this time my car was incapable of driving, simply it would barely move. The mechanic replaced the direct ignition coil, spark plugs, battery. Car runs and I drove it 70 miles home ok but then after 1 day I noticed the above issue..
I am about to drive 190 miles tomorrow for work. Please get back to me... Not sure if I should make this drive. My car seems to run ok if I accelerate very slowly.
Please help and thank you to who does.

How do I do this? And this might address the heavy engine vibration but it vibrates the entire car and the RPMs bounce up and down/struggle to move up between 2-4k
The motor mounts wouldn't explain the loss of power when accelerating, but check them anyway, it would only take 5 minutes of your time. When's the last time you adjusted the valve lash? If you've never done it (or had it done) and your car has 75k on it, it's probably time. A good, proper valve adjustment can help a lot of vibration problems and perhaps even help with your acceleration if your valves are too far out of tolerance (e.g., pinched or way too loose).
spark plugs?
my car felt like the clutch was engaging and disengaging really quickly and stumbled uphill.
changed ignition related stuff and ran like a champ

Check engine light, get the codes don't guess. With that much power loss sounds like your engine isn't pulling enough vaccum. Get a vaccum gauge on it, sounds like a Valvetrain issue.
Hello.
i always hesitate to answer vague questions like this one, simply because 5 minutes of looking/listening or driving a car to me, is worth more than you could ever type out but here goes anyway:
-i don't think you have an engine mount issue, causes more noise than actual shuddering.
-i think it's *very* important to get the vehicle scanned. the CEL will almost always indicate where to start
-what's your temp gauge read say when the condition occurs?
-what's the coolant level in the vehicle? (not just in the overflow, in the actual rad)
-what was the reason for a coil to be replaced?
i have very different advice for different conditions so these are important questions.
also, standard or automatic? dealer maintained?
