Backfiring

Default Backfiring

Can anyone suggest something. I have a completly stock 88 CRX. It keeps backfiring. Mainly when i gear down. Even when i dont gear down hard it does.

I've noticed a few things about Honda motors that makes them backfire.

Running Rich
TPS is a little out of whack
Exhaust piping is a large diamer (small pops, not really anything bad)
Tune-up stuff (ignition, timing, simple stuff)

I think it would be a good idea to check your exhaust for leaks (as mentioned above) as well.
