My Exhaust backfires like a B*tch. I just wanna know what causes it, how to stop it, and is it causeing significant power loss? Thanx in advance

 

1- combusiton occuring outside the combustion chamber
2- get the damn thing to a mechanic!
3- it's probably causing significant damage in addition to the power loss

Seriously, did you ever think a car that far out of tune was going to perform well?

 

is it backfireing or popping cause if its only popping and kinda almost predictable when its going to happen, like when ur in 3rd gear and let off the gas from say about 4k then that would be popping. my exhaust does that all the time...its the lack of backpressure.
