96 CX Hatch, b18C1 GSR swapped with LS tranns.

NO codes are thrown, swapped last week, runs great. Just got back from ECHM. On Friday drove about 3-4 hours from northern PA to Virginia and it started to overheat. Stopped on the side of the road, and lost about 1/4 or so gallon of coolant. Added some, started to overheat in about 45 minutes. Pulled over, pulled thermastat out, and had to fill the coolant about 2 more times on the way to VA.

The next day i realized it was dripping a little from the heater core hoses, at the connection, tighted them down and the leak stopped. NO coolant in oil and am not blowing any white smoke nor do i smell burnt coolant from the exhaust.

I went through a gallon of coolant on the way back to PA today and have NO idea where it is going. I can't see any signs of it leaking anywhere.

I figured it HAS to be the headgasket, but there are no signs of it...?

Why? Do a leakdown

 

Found the issue. Heater hose clamp at heater core wasn't even tight. But never leaked untill it was hot and higher into RM's. By everytime I tried to find it, it had dried up from it being so Freakin hot outside.

 

Even still, you can tell if a hose is leaking by nasty white residue all over the place. So if the coolant isn't reaching the ground there is usually that evidence.
