Share your thoughts on service intervals
A lot of info out there, just wanted to see what the EF crowd is doing. I probably do more than what's necessary but often it's affordable and I enjoy working on it.
Oil Changes: I can't break the 3k mile habit. I am running Mobil 1 Full Synthetic High Mileage and using the Mobil 1 Extended Performance filters. I did my piston rings and all of the gaskets and seals last year so I'm not leaking or burning any oil. I put 10k on it this past year and I am thinking about switching to 5k intervals but habits die hard and I'm kind of OCD anyway. About $50
Manual Transmission: Do it once a year regardless of mileage. Do it in June (that's the year that I bought the car) so it's easy to remember. I use Honda MTF. Can't remember what 2 qts of MTF cost, probably $15.
Plugs and Wires: Once a year, NGK for both. I might check them mid-year but they are fine. About $45 since no one around here carries NGK wires I order from Summit.
CAI: Injen. Clean it every 6 months with K&N solution.
Coolant: Every year, may switch to every 2 years because the coolant that I just replaced looked brand new. Honda coolant. $35 for 2 jugs.
Sensors: Plan on replacing O2 sensor and PCV valve every 2 years unless there's a fault.
IACV: clean it every year.
Fluids and tires: Check them every 2 weeks or every other fill up. About once a month I'll find a tire that's a few psi low. Rains so much here it seems like I never have to refill washer fluid. Check oil but it's always good, same with brake fluid.
Fuel Filter: Yearly but will probably switch to every 2 years based on mileage.
I don't want to throw money away but I just want to take care of what I've got. Please share thought and suggestions. Just remember sometimes peace of mind is worth it.

Oil: Enough of it escapes that I haven't changed it in literally a year. I just top it off about half a quart every 1k or so.
Brake fluid/coolant: 2 years no questions asked because I hate doing rusted headgaskets on cars that ran water for coolant or never had a coolant change. I also hate rusted brake lines and coffee brake fluid.
IACV, PCV, sensors, sparkplugs/ignition: Wait til there's a problem
Fuel filter: Haven't given a crap in 2 years because I replaced my tank and it's still sparkly clean.
Tires: Once a month?
Fluid check: Every week
CAI: I kick the dirt out of it whenever I have the intake off. (6mo-1yr?)
MTF: 1-2 years?
I really hate spending the time doing stuff that I know won't make alot of difference for the time and money I spend. I personally see no need for synthetic when I can buy another SOHC ZC for 400$ if mine ever dies. (and it won't just because of oil choice). I also see no need for IACV cleaning or ignition wire replacing annually. (there's a resistance check on the wires, so I know for sure when mine is bad.)
Pretty much every last maintenance item has been done on my car so I don't even have to worry about anything dying out/needing maintenance in the next year or two.
Don't get me wrong, I love keeping my car working great. But I hate spending money on parts that don't have to be done, I also have to find time between fulltime college and work to sweat my *** off getting greasy to work on my car. I try to stretch intervals just a little for convenience. I haven't had a problem in 2 years this way.

Oil Changes: Rotella 15w40 about every 3k miles
Manual Transmission: only time i change it is when i have to remove it lol. Only use Honda MTF
Plugs and Wires: NGK plugs & wires...only time i change them is id there's a problem. although i check my spark plugs periodically
CAI: K&N filter that i check every so often...guess i need to clean it soon
Coolant: change it twice a year. water & water-wetter in the summer and antifreeze in the winter
Sensors: no o2 and no pcv valve, and whatever else i fix or replace when needed
Fluids and tires: no washer bottle, and i believe ATE suggests changing brake fluid once a year. Tires...change them when needed
Fuel Filter: guess i need to be more diligent about changing it.
probably need to keep track of maintenance on this car

Maintenance is good, but too much can be a waste. Depends more on mileage to me. The owners manual is a good guide, but I have a routine.
1-2 years plugs, wires, filters.
3k oil change, castrol gtx 10w40 summer, 10w30 otherwise.
Inspect tires weekly, belts and hoses monthly. Inspect suspension 1-2 times a year (autox).
Seems like I'm upgrading/replacing something on a regular basis anyway, and I like to keep the car ready to go.
