Default Is there any way to disable my power steering?

I'm swapping my motor sometime next month and since most people don't bother to put the power steering back on. I wanted to see how much harder it'll be without it. I rather not remove anything from my engine bay just yet until my motor comes. Just wondering if I can drive my car without the power steering fuse intact to test what it feels like. Will the other belts still work, with there be any damage to the motor (D16Y7)?

it's honestly not that hard to drive.
the only time it could be difficult is when the car is not moving, but once it's in motion it's easy as pie

if the want the pump gone...plug the fluid lines
if you wanna do it the best way...swap in a manual steering rack

Thanks. I've read more about properly removing the power steering pump. Only thing I'm worried about is having my steering rack "lock up". Some say to remove the bracket, pump and lines, pulley and belt. And to simply loop the lines attached to the steering after. They also say have someone turn the wheels to see the steering rack release the remaining fluid then apply the looped lines.

Can I have it setup like this and drive the car normally?

Will it actually lock up after at any given time?

i fur worried about it locking up just get a manual steering rack came stock in the cx they may have different gears internally so the ps rack may be harder to turn then a manual rack

The cx had a manual rack and it was really easy to turn, but if you loop the two fluid lines on the power rack, preferably adding a breather, it's not hard to turn. It has a better ratio and you get used to it quick. Just taking the belt off makes it harder because you're fighting the fluid flowing, but looping it lets it move around.

To loop them all you need, to do it the cheap ghetto way, is to cut the two lines, flare the steel line, and slip the rubber line on with a hose clamp. Working a T and a little reservoir in would be the best though...

By the way, this is what I did and have been driving it that way for like 9 months. No problems thus far. I will swap a manual rack in later, just because I have it though. The power rack does have better ratios.

Why do you want to remove ps anyway?

IMO leave it - if you do any kind of performance driving, you will want it.

I drive my car without PS and thats the first time me dealing with this
problem and now I realize why no one complains, its no big deal at all and
as long as you have all even tire pressure turning is a breeze.
