Icon4 I have a GSR swapped Del Sol... I'm not sure what direction to go with this car.

The car:

b18c1 '97 GSR DOHC VTEC motor swapped into a '95 del sol...

i am just getting into the whole honda thing, love my car, but its too slow for me. it was a lovely place to start but i want to build a beast.. but i want something unique, and built right.

currently throwing codes 9 and 21... one of these codes is for a distributor issue, i am replacing the distributor this week... vtec isn't working... used to crack at 6300 rpm.. not sure what happened...

Long story short, I want to build this car right but don't know where to start.

A unique Honda is an oxymoron. Check out the build threads here and in the appearance forums if you need inspiration.

a unique honda is not an oxymoron... theres hondas left and right that are zip tied and duct taped together and break every pass down the quarter mile... i want a 10 second del sol that isn't going to break, hence built right...

i've seen several different turbo set ups that i do or do not like, but i've never personally seen 3 stage nitrous set up.

i just don't know where to start. the people i have currently trying to help me build this thing are super cheap and i'm trying to build something different from the ordinary b16 running 23 lbs of boost breaking every other pass.

If you say so. Do you have a specific tech question?

Fix code 9 and the engine will surely be faster. Note that code 9 is not necessarily caused by a bad distributor. Have you measured the resistance of the sensor?

I would probably start out by fixing all the small issues with the car i.e CEL codes then save save and save some more. It's not going to be cheap.

has to also be my daily driver for now so street legality is important. after i find a cheap d series for my DD then this car will be retired to the track only. I do not want to convert it to RHD or and funky shtuff like that.

so for now, a 10 second daily driver. the goal is by the end of the summer. i am not rushing this project though, like i said, i want it done right.

the code 9 is for the distributor.. long story short my friend got a new distributor at the same time as mine went out so we switched the coils and now its throwing a code... same code as the car that got a new distributor that the old coil was out of.

A bad coil won't throw code 9.

after switching coils in the crx (the one that got the new distributor, we switched coils to see if it fixed the problem) it quit throwing the code. old coil went in my car an now it is throwing code 9...

anyway, doesnt matter... already picked up a lifetime warrenty distributor.. installing it this week... i've seen/helped install several distributors in my 18 short years of life.. but never done it completely solo so any warnings would also be appreciated...

Turbo, nitrous or supercharger?

say i have roughly 3k atm for the car. i plan on having a little body work done shortly here, and the small issues are fixed.

10second car for 3k?

i think you have to budget more just my opnion

even if things are built perfect stuff goes wrong and things break. so put some money aside for that too.

i have a supercharged b18c and its far from a 10sec car. mine has upgraded boost pulley too. i hit 13.7 with everything perfect on street tires. i could maybe get down to 13.2 with nice slicks. plus i have alot more than 3k into my setup.

you might want to check out a ebay turbo kit. i wouldnt reccomend them at all but if you have a tight budget its the only way to hit 10s.

most nice new turbos are atleast $1000. some can hit $3000 for just the turbo.

you need supporting mods to if you plan to run a turbo ie fuel setup, exhaust mani, intercooler with piping, oil and maybe coolant lines, down pipe, and make mods to your motor to accept the coolant and oil lines. proper tune and maybe some new sensors if you plan on running over 10lbs of boost

and thats just the basics you will come accross a bunch of problems if you bolt on a ebay kit.

now you have to consider traction and clutch. so lsd , slicks, clutch kit..

the list keeps building as you can see

funny that people mention slicks... i have lenzos with exospeed skinnies, and lsd tranny is next on my to do list, you can have all the hp you want but its not worth much unless you can put power to the ground... i have 3k for now... maybe another 5k coming.

like i said, i dont plan on ebay stuff. its an old car so new parts wont hurt.

distrubutor successfully installed... code 9 gone. woohoo!
