Auto to Manual swap - I need reverse lights! help plz
Sup guys,
Car = 93 eg, with y8 swap.
Long story short, I bought the car from a buddy of mine back in the day. He had taken it to a shop to get the auto to manual conversion....but, I dont think they wired in the reverse lights. After finally almost getting rear ended I decided I need to wire these suckers in.
Since it seems pretty easy and straight forward I got the service manual and followed directions...everything seems fine in the wiring and the plug to the tranny is connected. Any ideas?
I googled and found out that:
auto to manual swap require extending wires from the console to the transmission, a step that a lot of people say 'screw it, my car runs' and then forget about doing it.
Anyone have a clue which wires to extend? or what console he's talking about?
thanks guys!

On the front of the tranny (if standing in front of the bumper), there should be a pigtail with two green wires. When the transmission is in reverse, these two green wires complete a circuit that activates the reverse lights.
You need to connect both of these green wires to the reverse light circuit in the car. In the automatic gear selector connector under the console, there is also a pair of wires (don't recall the colors) that connect to the auto gear selector. What you need to do is connect the two wires from the pigtail on the transmissions to the two wires on the old gear selector plug.
Exactly how you do this is up to you. You can home-run a new set of wires all the back to the old AT gear selector connector, or you can utilize the unused AT connector a the ECU (which has connections at the old AT gear selector plug, as well as the cluster for AT indicator lights).
When I did mine I ran two wires out through the firewall. The plug the connects to the backup light switch on the trans uses the colors yellow and green. The plug where the old AT shifter was uses the same wire colors, you simply need to connect those two sets of wires together matching the color.
The better way to do it is to find those wires up under the dash on the driver's side of the car (it's right up in the corner, there are two big plugs) and run the wires from there to the old AT shifter plug.

Alright guys, I went wire hunting and found what I believe to be the auto clip that connects under the console. I checked the wires and there is a all yellow wire and 2 green/black stripe wires. So which do I use? either one?
Also, I found the yellow wire and green/black wire at the driver side shock tower...
So the only thing I need to do is strip both wires at the shock tower and run two separate wires down to the auto clip? thats it?

IIRC the two wires you need at the shifter are right in the middle of the plug. One is green/black the other is yellow.
And yeah, run two wires to connect everything together. You can tap into those wires in the corner of the engine bay on the inside of the firewall for a neater look though.
