95 ej1 z6 vtec not kicking
I got a 1995 ej1 stock with a z6.
And I'm new so go easy with the insults please.
But vtec isn't kicking at all. From what I feel anyways.
Would that mean my ecu isn't chipped or the engine is weak?
Any advice would be great, feel free to ask more questions if I'm not specific enough sorry like I said I'm new. I'm from the inland empire so any recommendations as to where would be cheap and easy would also be greatly helpful. Thanks again.

To hit 88mph and the flux capacitor launch you into the future!!!!
I don't feel v-tec when it kicks in. I barely hear it with my exhaust.
Do you have any cels?
And don't thread jack someone else's thread about your problems when it isn't ever relevant to their thread!!! It is just rude!!!

Well the thing about that was, when I got the car from the previous owner i noticed the cel didn't even turn on at all. I know it's supposed to turn on right when you start the car the. Turn off after a short period of time. But my guess was that the cel was on and he just unplugged it? Is there a way I can see why it's not even turning on at all?
All the previous owner did most likely was remove the bulb for the cel.
Its not rocket science removing the cluster and putting a bulb in and then if indeed the ecu is throwing a code, again, not difficult finding what code(s)
I know your gonna ask anyways......
Remove upper 2 screws w/ a phillips screwdriver that is securing the cluster trim. The trim that has the vents attached to it, and pull it out.
Remove 4 phillips screws holding cluster in place.
Unplug the 4 wire connectors going to the cluster.
See if a bulb is burnt out or missing in the cel slot.
Reverse order for re-installing cluster.
Turn ignition key 2 clicks till you here the fuel pump prime...dont start the car.
Passenger side under glove box you'll see a small green rubber bootie thing.
Pull out the connector and jump it with a paper-clip.
cel will blink....1 long flash of cel =10 1 short one =1...get code(s) and go on google and look em up.

Drive the car. See if it throws a CEL later on. Bulb are always removed to prevent people from learning there are issues with a car prior to being sold.
This "concern" about vtec kicking has been addressed before on this forum. However it sounds like you are on your way to discovering your problem. But just an FYI a properly running/tuned VTEC equipped stock motor should not "kick"
