Default MFactory diff questions- users chime in!

Hey guys I am in the market for an LSD for my GSR transmission. I was initially set on the drag spec Quaife diff (QDF6U23DG) but I have been looking into some threads where people are talking about having good luck with the MFactory helical LSD (MF-TRS-05B18). My engine should put down 700whp this season so I will need something that will be able to take the abuse at the track.

Looking for a little input from the guys who are making similar power. How many of you guys have had experience with the MFactory LSD's? What kind of power were you putting to it and how many passes down the track has it held up to?

Thank in advance guys!

517whp right now and not 1 complaint out of me with the MFactory unit. I have no doubts in my mind that it will handle the extra 200hp I am getting ready to throw at it. You know mine gets tracked all the time lol

You should have turned it up a month ago so I could have more definite feedback Lol. I figure you have been to the track 17 times in the last month.

I think both have a limited lifetime warranty. As with any race parts I would imagine there will have to be very strict stipulations as to what would be warrantied considering the abuse the differentials will take.

I had received some messages from Scott @ Quaife and he was very helpful, but after seeing the difference in price its leading me consider the MFactory diff if people are having good luck with it.

I think I have 15 track passes this month haha, that includes me missing a week I wish it was already turned up, we had to figure out a few issues before settin up a dyno time, dont worry July 1st is the date we have secured for this haha.

It's their Helical. Also note there's at least 10k miles of street driving on it as well before I put it in the race car, pulled the trans apart last month and still looks great.

Had one in my gsr trans. Had about 20 or 30 hits on it at around the 600whp mark. Sold the car and the new owner drove it everyday for about a year and just pulled the motor apart to sleeve the block and said the trans was still perfect>>>>.

Lol it never hurts to have a spare trans on hand, thats for sure. I cant really be too sure how long my stock gearset cuffed gsr trans will hold up.

This wasnt on the latest setup was it?

We had the Mfactory Helical LSD in our car for a season. 1000+hp many low 9's and high 8 second passes. No problems. Took it out and sold it to a customer that is currently beating on it still with no issues. For under $700 its a great value.

nah, i went Gforce back in OCt of last year. I had 3 tranny's at one point. Sold one now I have the Gforce with a quaife and the stock with a Mfactory. It never even grinded any gears. I used Torco in it and it held fine on the street. Didnt do a bunch of track stuff back then, more street.

Not a B-series but we use a M-Factory Diff in our car.

2700lbs car, K24 making 726whp 487wtq
Car runs 10.20@150mph.

As heavy as this car is that diff is taking a beating.

Not one issue. Great Diff at a Great Price.

Thats what Im talkin about!!! I wanted to make sure that trying to save a couple hundred on a MFactory diff wouldnt hurt me in the long run.

Ahh thats right, I remember seeing the Gforce in your thread. I have never even thought about using Torco MTF in the trans. I have always used OEM Honda MTF. Is there any advantages? Id assume the Torco is probably designed more for the abuse that a drag/street car gets as opposed to a n/a daily driver.

Very nice! Is there a way to shed some more weight from the car? I am not sure how much weight RSX's can lose. I am hoping to be right at 2000lbs with me in my car.

I dont believe MFactory will warranty out a LSD unless Torco is used and the LSD is installed by an authorized installer, atleast this is what I was told back when I bought my lsd. Of course this could've changed...Torco fluids is what I run in my trans as well and that **** shifts like butter! Only issue I have with Torco RTF is getting ahold of it as no one in Ohio sells it. Thats why I buy 3+ liters of it at a time

zinc, from what they say. All i can say is mine never skipped a beat, but it was mostly street driving on it.

Zinc / ZDDP (Phosphorus as well) is the primary deal in the synthetics, it actually impregnates itself into the metal... However, its more than that... Anti shock properties are considerable concern as well... Torco RTF and Redline lightweight shockproof are both GREAT.

The V2 Mfactory diffs are really nice, If this 1st gen OBX ever breaks (5 years at 650-760 WHP at 578 TQ in an aAccord) Ill be going that route. Ive installed a couple (M afctories) in H trannys. Really like them. Have a solid line to tech... Dave and co. Are fantastic and you wont find better Support.

No gearset, no real need for the exotic fluids, but from the power youre mentioning... Id go with either of the aforementioned.
