Default 95 Civic won't start! HELP!

Hello all, i jumped into a D series mini-me swap without researching. Ya i know, bad of me, but i need your guy's help, no criticism please.

The engine block is a D15b7, and the cylinder head is from a D16z6. I bought a z6 distributor from a junk yard, put new internals in from another dizzy that i had lying around.

It turns over beautifully, but it doesn't wanna fire up. The car itself sat for 5 years in a dirt parking lot. I bought it for 400 bucks.

The car came with the z6 cylinder head in the trunk, along with the engine bay wiring harness for the v-tec. Now i heard i needed a P28 ECU.

I bought an ECU from a 97 y8, but never installed it yet. Would it not start because of the stock d15b7 ECU?

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

It turns over beautifully as i stated before. I put in a new fuel filter, new gas, which its getting 100%... but its not getting any spark. The dizzy has new internals, the car has brand new NGK wires, and sparkplugs.

I could really use the help, as i need this car to drive my family around.

It will still fire without a vtec ecu. It will just run like crap.. Have you checked your main relay? Do you hear the fuel pump prime? Does a CEL come on and then do you hear any clicks when it goes off? I would unplug the battery and then unplug and pull my main relay and take a flat head screw driver and pop the main relay open and see if any dirt or any corrosion is on it. This is a big problem when cars sit for awhile. Also your going to need a jumper harness for the 97 y8 ecu to work in your car.. I would highly recommend getting a chipped p28 for your setup. Just use your stock p06 ecu first to get it to run.

When the key is turned from off to ON(II), does the CEL turn on and then off after 2 seconds?

Have you checked for spark at the plugs? Is it bright white?

also when you remove the spark plug, smell for gas. I had the same problem, and my injectors were actually stuck shut from sitting too long. Heat them up with a heat gun, or hair dryer if you don't have one, if you don't smell fuel, and tap them with the handle of a screw driver gently

If a CEL does not come on then it could be these things:

1.) No Power to ECU (Faulty Wiring)
2.) Main Relay could be Bad
3.) ECU could be bad
4.) Blown Fuse

Main relay is located on the driver side under the dash. Its a lil grey box looks like this

BTW you don't want to use the P2P ECU, that's going to give you too many issues. Try to find a P28 ECU from the 92-95 EX/SI.

Sorry for the long delay, i've been stupid busy at work, saving money for my baby that is on the way.

My car is getting fuel. Sparkplugs smell like gas, no spark at the plugs what-so-ever. I will look into the main relay, see if i can replace that or not.

Injectors are fine, sparkplugs are getting gas, pump turns on to prime.

If the timing belt has not snapped or stripped, have the coil and ICM tested. Please answer all questions -- CEL codes?

the engine was rebuilt by the owner who owned it before the guy i bought it off of.. the headgasket blew, and its been sitting for 5 years the guy said.

When I replaced the headgasket, i DID notice the pistons looking brandnew, and the block surface was farely clean. I installed the v-tec cylinderhead that was in the trunk, and YES, i removed the little oil jet.

I bought a new timing kit for it, got a dizzy from the junkyard, bought a new rotor/cap for it, new NGK wires and plugs, and a new fuel filter.

Doesn't get any spark to the plugs, no check engine light, but it does turn over.

I will pocket a new main relay from the junkyard just to test if that is the source of the problem.

The OEM relay looks like that, aftermarket ones are going to look a little different. No numbers on the body.
Doesn't sound like the main relay anyway best bet check the coil make sure it hasn't tried to ground out on the metal casing around it. You'll see noticeable burn marks on the coil. If you need specs on the resistance test for it let me know.

i will take the distributor off tonight and take it apart, examine everything, since i DID get it at a junkyard. I have another dizzy from a Y8, which looked brand new, that i used parts from to put into the Z6 dizzy.
