Default I swapped engines now my car wont start. Help needed idk what to do.

I just swapped my 95 civc D16Z6 for a 97 civic D16Y8 becasue my engine went out. I swapped intake manifold, alternator, and distributor from my Z6 to the Y8 so that i could use the 95 ECU and wiring harness.

I am gettin spark but i dont think I am gettin fuel to my fuel rail. The car also makes a weird noise like something is tryin to pump, it sounds like a quiet wannabe air compressor, and my speedo jumps to 25mph as soon as the key is turned over. My car wont start, but it sounds like it wants to.

What is wrong? What should I do?

re-check fuel lines.....all harness...sound like u still might have an issue matching your head to ecu.

As long as he swapped over the manifold and dizzy (which requires some modification to bolt up) It should work just fine. Friend of mine did a y7 swap in simliar fashion to his hatch.

X2 on checking the grounds and making sure they are secure.

That sound you hear is the fuel pump priming, but if its that unnaturally loud as you said, check to make sure all your fuel components are correctly installed. Youd be surprised what problems you can run into just by leaving out the washer for the line that goes to your fuel rail, double check everything to make sure its correct.

As for your speedo, may just be coincidence that you have some of wiring issue, it may or may not be in the wires, but possibly in the cluster itself. Sounds like a grounding issue tho.

i checked my car again and i found out that the noise is comeing from my main relay, im pretty sure. should i just replace it with a new 95 honda civic main relay?

Is a bad relay the reason why my car is not getting any fuel?

that could definately be the prob. swap it out any see. make sure the plug didnt get loose somehow. to be honest i had a prob simaliar to this before, and i just tap kinda hard on the relay, and it actually started to work fine.

If you are hearing the noise from the main relay, that means its working. I would check elsewhere...Unless the noise is really loud and abnormal. But the relay should make some kind of noise when the fuel pump is priming.

Check all the fuses, however you should be throwing a CEL code if one is blown. But check all fuses anyways, exspecially # 15 in the underdash fuse box. This deals directly with the alternator circuit. Also, because you kept cranking the engine over and it wouldnt start, you may have damaged the battery and depleted the power that was initially stored in it. Try charging the battery with a battery charger and bringing its amperage back up to normal... if not I say just buying a new battery will fix the issue. I don't think its a bad alternator.
