Default 95 Civic - no Vtec engagement (searched)

D16z6 dd no notable mods

Cel is throwing o2 heater
I've read that any cel drops vtec and that only certain cels do
Also would a poorly or unwired vtec throw a code?
Thanks in advance

Define "poorly wired". And if you know it's "poorly wired or unwired" why is it still "poorly wired or unwired"? Why would it be "poorly wired or unwired" if the engine is stock? Maybe you better list ALL car details. Alsi, I would be less concerned with VTEC and more concerned with fixing any and all CELs. Period.

I haven't checked the wiring nor would I completly know what I'm looking at. I was just stating possibilities. As for cel obviously it needs to be fixed. But i want to know if i can expect engagement afterwards. As we speak I'm looking at wiring diagrams. But thanks for a complete non answer as always.

As for the details pertaining there were 2 Ecus in the car when I bought it. An auto p28 mounted. And a manual plugged in laying under the carpet. Didn't notice to ask why and car previously had a gsr swap so the guy said

If everything is 100% it should engage. But I don't know why people get hung up on VTEC when other issues are preventing it from working. Fix the issues that are obvious, like the CEL for the O2 and anything else that is defficient.

I would also refrain from posting conditions, such as wiring issues, if you haven't verified that there are, in fact, wiring issues. State the problems as you know them to exist if you want accurate troubleshooting. Guessing is not troubleshooting.

Also you MUST list ALL car details if you do not want your threads closed. It also helps with better troubleshooting.

I only asked if a faulty wiring would throw a code to rule out wiring. Because i have no wiring experiance. Not to throw out untested what ifs. I apologize man damn..

not all cels will cause vtec to become inop... o2 can and any vtec related cel can cause vtec to not function... like grumble said, make the known issues go bye bye regardless... and if vtec wasn't wired properly you should be getting vtec pressure, vtec solenoid cels when vtec attempts to engage

Is this the same issue as the one that prompted this thread?

No sir. Not even my car. I could never get his to show though even while started and pinned. Would flash sporadically. Like the circuit wasn't complete. Same probe works fine on mine though.

What makes you think that VTEC fails to engage?

At 4800 there is absolutley no crossover. I understand it would be faint in a z6. But compared to another z6 and a y8 ive recently rode it kinda took me by suprise how much more obvious it was.

So fix your other issues. THEN attend to the "VTEC thing".

Will do thanks. And one last thing.... O2 heat sensor. Is it bought separate or intact to an o2 sensor

It's internal to the o2 sensor... a signal to the ecu reads the o2 heater circuit
