Default Need advice for a turbo automatic d series

Ok ive searched and searched and only came up with a few results. Thats expected since its an auto, but im planning on turboing my girls sedan. I have the kit already. Its auto with a/c and a mini me swap. i only wanna run 6-10pds of boost. My question is will the auto tranny hold up(without rompin on it to much and frequent tranny oil changes, probably a tranny oil cooler as well)? Also itd be great if i could get some input from people who have actually done this. thanks in advanced

Tranny cooler is a nice addition, frequent oil changes are not necessary, you just have to use a good quality synthetic trans fluid (usually they have higher viscosity's then the OEM fluid). I currently use royal purple max atf in my SP7A and drag race on it, and just generally beat on it, and my car runs 7-8psi supercharged. 200k+ miles and still going strong. Ultimately it depends on the condition of the trans BEFORE you mod the car, if your experiencing issues like slipping or showing signs of torque converter wear, I would advise against it until you have the trans rebuilt.

In your case with it being a civic trans, there is a JDM B16A automatic that comes with a factory LSD that you might want to do some more research on as it might be a good swap for your girls car.

Tuning will also be another issue you will have to look at, what made my build so easy was the ECU is independent of the trans computer, on OBD2 cars this is not the case, trans control is typically housed within the ECU, which makes tuning limited to AFC controllers and devices like the greddy emanage.

@spawne thanks man ya the tranny imo runs super smooth. I also just changed her tranny fluid and filled it with royal purple atf. It runs even better lol and its a 94 obd1 civic and the ecu has already been chipped.
