Default Buying Flexplate - New or Used?

I need a flexplate for my 01 accord and theres a ton of these things used for about $35. Never heard of them really breaking but unfortunately mine did. So is this just a stroke of bad luck or an I just settle for a used one?

Default Re: Buying Flexplate - New or Used?

I had a 95 Legend Coupe with a 3.5L swap from a 2002 RL. When I purchased the engine I wasn't aware that the donor car was involved in a front end collision which damaged the crankshaft. To make a long story short, the pressure from the damaged crankshaft caused the flexplate to break. I got it replaced and four days later it broke again. So, you never know what you're getting when buying things used. If the car wasn't involved in any sort of an accident then you should be fine buying a used one.
