I think the Nitto drag radials are 245/50R/16 according to the add from DTD...

You need to find out what the middle number is for sure (look on the tire itself). The middle number tells you what the side wall is...usually for 16" rims people run "45" side wall (205/45/16 that is) the 245 is the width, and with a 245/45/16 on a type-r I think its going to rubb pretty bad.

here's list of my calcs. for overall dia. on a few tires. You be the judge...
205/50-15 =23.07"
225/45-15 =22.97"
205/45-16 =23.26"
215/40-16 =22.77"
205/40-17 =23.45"
the ones below will definately have issues with probably more than just sheetmetal--unless, of course, you put lift kit on your "R"...
225/50-16 =24.85"
245/50-16 =25.65"

JDM DC 4-1, 2.5" test pipe, stock b-pipe, HKS dragger axle back, ACT clutch, 9lb flywheel, vafc(untuned).....my 60ft's are 2.1's and 14.108@97.7 is my best ET....I just really want to break 13's

ps- he just told me they are 225/50/16's.....I won't be runnin on the street with them I am just putting them on at the track so I won't be doing any hard turning

A 225/50-16 is roughly 24.86" tall. If you're all motor, a shorter tire will help you at the strip. Something like a 22x8x15 MT slick might be your best bet. Losing that stock b-pipe and tuning the car will help a lot. The next step would be gearing- jdm itr fd or something like an ATS 4.9 fd.
Just my thoughts...
