I want to clean the outside of this engine but what should i use? is there a certain type of chemical to treat all that black grease on the block and head? Any suggestion would be great. thanks

 

Degreaser, brake cleaner, pressure washer, and some scrubbing. Any if them will help

Easyoff oven degreaser, spray it on and let it sit. scrub off with pref hot water.

After that use either a normal car degreaser, or brake cleaner. Small wire brushes or drill attachments work well.

easy off doesnt work too well. go to your local hardware store and get grease cutter ment for cars.

 

purple power and or castrol super clean is your best $ to benefit ratio one gallon is $5/7. duct tape the exhaust ports and either run purple power through a pressure washer or pour it on and scrub with a wire brush. that long block is a fking pit. you check the seals for leaks? cleaning it may be a temporary solution.
