5+ year old rotors go out of round? Sure looks like it
So basically I have my front spindle off the car and I was doing a mockup of my new oem caliper and some crossed drilled and slotted rotors I had laying around for 4-5 years from my last project crx that are brand new.
While spinning the rotor on the spindle all by itself, it APPEARS to be not a perfect circle, like 3/16" out of round would be my best guess.
If I spin it by hand quickly and you watch the outer edge of the rotor spin, you can see the outer edge go higher and lower....
I already chucked the old rotors that I tore off the spindle, optical illusion? Old part warped?
Any insight? Dont want to buy new $100 rotors just because, but I dont want a crazy vibration on my maiden test drive when I get the car back together.

Go rent a dial gauge from any autoparts store and measure. Some are magnetic and other clamp on but all you do is clamp it set it against the rotor just so it barely touches then spin slowly and read how far out of round it is... Simple as that.
