Default Broken Stud on Firewall

I broke the stud that connects the water valve to the firewall. Does this unscrew from the firewall? It looks like it might because of the washer looking piece at its base.

1996 Cx Hatch.some of them look like they are inserted through the firewall and welded from the other side. The one with the water valve

I am interested in knowing as well. I had previously thought that the studs came from the heater box on the other side, though this was just an assumption.

I had the heater box out. The is a gap between the firewall and the inside of the car because I cannot see anything on he other side. There are spot welds that I can see on the firewall but they are about 1/8 inch around the edges of that head so I don't think that head is spot welded. I wanted to know before I did some damage trying to remove it.

as i posted before and i have done a shave cutting and grinding them all off
all of those studs are welded on
there is only one stud that comes through the fire wall that supports the heater box and its got a 8mm nut on it
and is lower down than the heater tap stud and closer to the middle of the firewall

dont forget some places on the firewall are double skinned and you wont see everything

Is there some way that I can subscribe to a thread so that I don't have to look for it in the list of threads every time I want to see if someone replied.

If you asked this question in Shaved and Tucked thread you would get the same answer
as most have removed them for the shave

Go to User CP and then to Edit options. There's a section on subscription defaults there.

Good info.

OP, it sounds like you can drill out the broken stud and install a bolt.
