I have a friend who just purchased a CRX this weekend. He is getting ready to start building on that engine. He asked me for my advice on the situation. I know that engine responds pretty good to mods, but that was all I could tell him. I normally deal with B and D series. Can anyone give me some info that I can relay to him so he can get started. I'll take whatever you give me. If possible give me the A thru Z grocery list because he's got the money to send and he isn't afraid to spend it, he just doesn't want to do a swap if he doesn't have to. He wants to build it from the bottom end all the way to the top end and then some.
well... i would say turbo too, however he would probably be better off getting a B series motor, ive had a ZC for more than a year (with lots of mods head completely built and even NOS) and im still not satisfied with the performance. For all the money i spent on that motor i know i could have had a b16a with almost the same mods.. however if he wants to keep the ZC turbo would be the best way to go.. ive seen turboed ZC's running low 14's all day long....
zc is a D series motor, so you shouldn't have much problem there. Just do the right stuff to the head, and upgrade the internals and have high compression for NA anyway, or high comp and stuff thats mounted tightly if you wanna turbo
