Default Grinding Noise Low Fuel

So I have a 92 GSR with a new fuel filter and new Walbro 255 pump. Last week I let my gas drop to about an an 1/8 of a tank and noticed anytime I come to a stop I get a strange squeal and/or grinding noise from what sounds like right in front of the driver side under the hood. I filled the car up and it went away. Now today, same scenario. Once at about a 1/4 tank, anytime I come to a stop I hear this low and constant grinding noise. Very odd. Once I start to drive it goes away.

had the same thing happen to me about a week after i installed a xenocron 255 fuel pump.

tested the pump in a 5 gal bucket of gas and it turned out the pump was leaking around the top of the housing.

come to think of it i never did get the replacement pump after i sent it back.

I'm starting to think this might be the problem.
I hopped out and checked where the noise was coming from last night, and it's the fuel pump. From inside the cabin it sounds like it's coming from up front in the engine bay, but it's not.

I filled her up this morning and away goes the noise. Sounds like I might just be stuck living with the noise. Oh well. *shrug*

You're not suppose to let your tank get so empty with Walbro fuel pumps. Kills em off faster.

I would contact Walbro. Maybe there is an issue with the pump. Or maybe you aren't supposed to run them so low like mouab18c1 suggests...

Ok good to know!
I'll keep it above 1/4 tank from now on.
