CEL comes on...goes away when i turn the car back on... wth?
i dunno whats the deal but here goes.
i'm driving around, and the check engine light would come on. so i pull over to a gas station to jump the code. i turn off the car, take the key out, and put it back in an in 2nd ACC notch...but then the check engine light turns off. i'm like
and i get back in and drive again. the CEL stays off but it does it again like 2 days later or so. how can i check the code to see whats wrong with it if it turns off everytime i shut down the car?

I remember talking to a guy about this(Crescent from C-speedracing.com). He said that for some things the ECU will automatically reset itself, depending on what the problem is. As far as checking the code, I don't know what to say. Do any codes pull up, even if the check light isn't on? The next time it comes on, don't turn off the car, leave it running and check it.
Yah 500!!

well it threw a code when i ran a stock ecu (i'm running a chipped p28 now obd2->obd1
it threw a crankshaft speed fluctuator sensor error; but i just got a chipped p28 and chipped p28's dont read off that sensor.
is it okay to run the ecu with the car still running? i wasnt sure if it was alright thats why i havent done it. thanks
