Anybody ever have trouble shifting into first when getting ready to take off? This keeps happening to me in my 01, took off in 2nd tonight.

 

i have had this a "couple" times, in my old car..(stock d16 motor) just changed the tranny fluid.

but with trannys u never know. It still happened EVERY now and then.

What works for me is to let off the clutch and then put it back in and then immediately put it into gear. Takes a couple tries sometimes, but it does work.

 

First gear does not have synchro?!

its a pain if it happens at a red light...but punching it into 2nd gear then shoving it back to 1st usually does the trick. it happens in reverse too. however, if its chronic for you, then something's wrong...
