URGENT leaking behind flywheel
i am leaking behind my flywheel. i know that my crx is leaking from the cover that the rear main seal sits in. i replaced my rear main seal, but need to take the cover that it sits in off. How do i do this? the bolts are out, but i can not budge the cover off. also, it seems that there is no gasket under this. It looks like a white sealant was used for a gasket here. Should there be a gasket or do i use a sealant? What kind? what should i put on the oil pan gasket when replacing that as well? I appreciate any input. ThANK YOU
I think the clutch cover is held on by two of the oil pan bolts/nuts as well as the two bolts into the bell housing. Did you take those out too?
There shouldn't be a gasket of any kind between the clutch cover and tranny, as it doesn't hold fluid, it's just there to keep dirt out.

thank you much for your help. I think you are referring to the the steel black dust cover. i did take out the bolts on the bottom of the alloy cover where the rear main seal sits. Here is a picture of the cover i am talking about. It is number 5 in the diagram: http://parts.sonshonda.com/showAssem...roduct=1473082
that housing should have studs going through the oil pan, so you'll need to take that off as well. it's sealed with silicon so it might take a little bit of force to break it free.
thank you. that is held on by honda bond. i bought some. i did get the two bolts on bottom out in addition to the other bolts. would you recommend a little heat on the alloy? i dont want to warp it.
You shouldn't need to heat it up, just be patient prying it off. Iirc, there's dowels for it on the left and right. Try to get behind those areas to use as your prying points. And there's a good chance you're going to mess up that new rear main seal while removing it so be prepared to buy and install a new one.

just banged the s_it out o the cover. wont budge! if i bang any harder, i am chancing cracking the engine block. would be shame to trash the entire motor over this silly cover! maybe i just run a bead of Honda Bond HT around edges? Doesnt seem the smartest idea, but I'm lost at this point in the game. thanks for your help guys.
Did you remove the oil pan? If not, this is your problem; not saying it's impossible, but they just don't get stuck like that on ANY type of vehicle.
