How to Salvage my car?
In January some idiot backed into the quarter panel of my EG. Turns out, that was enough damage to total it. This has led me to a dilemma. I know that the only way to register this car again is to go through a DMV or CHP inspection.
My EG has a B20 swap. I also have a momo steering wheel that obviously gets rid of the drivers side airbag. I was wondering if anyone knows what the DMV inspector actually inspects and what would cause them to refer me to CHP. Am I totally screwed?

right.
the rules and regulations on this type of thing are different for each state.
Here in SC it was just a little paperwork coordinated by my insurance company for a new title that said "salvage" on it. Then re-registering down at the DMV. no inspection or proof of anything other than my name on the new title and current insurance (minimum being the only option).

I've called and different people said different things. One person said that I would get refered to California highway patrol just for having a civic. I was just wondering if anyone has ever had an experience like this.
I called the DMV. They said that because of my make, model, year, my car would be referred to CHP due to its high theft rate in my area. I called back a couple days later and the guy says as long as you have your brake and lamp inspection done it should be fine and I shouldn't be referred to CHP. I don't want to show up to my inspection at the DMV just to get blacklisted or something when they refer me to CHP.
i was kinda in the same situation down here in los angeles, i had a del sol with a b20 in it and it had been in an accident and it was up to me to for the dmv to sign off the salvage and go through the process, they will tell you (hopefully) to go to a brake and light inspection place if they dont do it right there, which is what i had to do, then just visually sign off that saftey measures are intact. Nothing was mentioned about the swap. I would just swap out your steering wheel just in case and go for gold.
