Default OEM or After Market Motor Mounts?

So.. I'm in need of new motor mounts. People are telling me to go after market while others say OEM. I don't plan on doing anything crazy with my prelude, just drive it really. Just wanted the HT communitie to share what there inputs would be. By the way, the car is a 96 prelude. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Aftermarket mounts come with compromises for the stiffness, such as added vibration and difficulty of install/fitment. Sounds you just need some new OEM mounts

For daily driving, I would go with OEM mounts. I daily my Em1 that has Hasport Mounts, and it feels like I'm on a roller coaster with my A/C on

Most Co's start out at 60A Polyurethane which is pretty soft we use 70A next step which does just about everyone upwards 500 hp. 80/90 for race and will have a lot of vibration.

With 70 you will notice slight vibration at idle and goes away while driving.

You can't have a much stiffer mount then OEM rubber and expect to have no vibration difference then OEM.

Depending on how you drive it.. If you don't try to hot rod it, OE mounts should be fine, but it you are like me, you need HASPORT mounts. I drive civic hatch with a stock type r (c5). I broke the stock mounts several times. And by broke, I mean not only did the rubber inside crack, but the metal piece around it snapped lol. I replaced them about 3 times and same thing. So I bought the U70A (Race) HASPORT mounts and no problem since... Just wish I would have gotten the U62A mounts because these 70 mounts are way too solid it vibrates my car quite a bit at idle. I'm use to it though I kinda like it now lol feels like I'm driving a go kart I feel all the vibration haha. Well good luck with your mounts, what ever you do, DON'T.... BUY.... ANCHOR MOUNTS!!!!! I got mine from Advance Auto and they couldn't handle my type r

One more question, are motor mounts easy to do? Or are they just a pain in the ***?

Font, side and transmission mounts aren't bad. The rear will be a giant pain if you don't remove you intake mani first.

Download the Honda Factory Service Manual and you should be fine. Make sure when you jack the engine up to release strain on the mounts, place a piece of 2x4 or something in between the jack and the engine to displace the force.

I'm not sure about other aftermarket mount companies, but Innovative has a lifetime warranty on theirs. I run their side, transmission and rear mounts with a stock front and it's not bad. I drive my prelude every day. Plus, they're $300 + shipping for the set of three and $115 for the front. If you want, you can run a new stock front and it'll be $75.

Up to you, but it will be $415 for all Innovative with a lifetime warranty or $410 for all stock Honda OR $375 for Innovative with OEM Honda front.

Mostly true, as having the intake manifold off would aid in you being able to see what you were doing down there, tight spot. But I was able to slip my Explicit Speed Performance rear mount out and install the new OEM rear mount in with little difficulty - I had my intake manifold on. It's doable.

I used to have Hasport mounts on my 89 civic w/LS and the vibration was insane... I wouldn't have minded if it wasn't my daily driver...

Id say go stock, or something of a comparable grade...

As for install, they pretty much covered it, the only tougher one is the rear mount...

X2... Never had to remove intake. I just remove the "L" bracket and swap mounts, or even remove the driver engine mount, will allow you to tilt the engine forward some, enough to removed and replace read mount. Just be carefull.
