So my car is having this problem and I have NO clue where to start. My car pops and sounds like its backfiring and sputters when I take off from a stop, it runs smoothly once i get it up to speed. I checked the ecl codes and one of them said that my ignition unit was going out. I went to the parts store and bought a new igntion unit and put it on. It made the problem worse it sounds like a pistion isnt firing and has a serious lack of power. So I put the old one back on and have been driving it like that since.
