Someone with a mostly stock GSR & adjustable timing light - I need a favor
Mostly stock meaning no milling or decking done, stock cam gears, crank pulley, ECM & distributor. I need to know the stock timing range when adjusting the dizzy. If someone could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.
16btc. set the light to 0 degree advance (no advance) point it at the crank pulley, and you will see a red mark line up with the mark on the lower timing belt cover
I'm not looking for what the timing is supposed to be, I'm looking for what the base timing ends up being when the distributor is rotated as far as it will go in both directions.

So, you don't have a timing light, but you're going to GUESS at what the timing will end up being?

Okay, let's take all of our moronic assumptions and set them aside for just a moment, in favor of something a little more intelligent.
Since there may be others like yourself who need additional information to think about helping, (even though you may not be able to actually provide the help requested), I'll fill you in. I do have an adjustable timing light, but that's beside the point, which is that my cam gears are off, and my head has been resurfaced. Sure, I can put the stockers back on there, set the timing, then put my Skunk2's back on & see the difference. Then swap the intake & exhaust to see the difference there. This I have done, but I like to able to check & double check things with as many points-of-reference as are available. I've been wondering what the range of timing adjustment is on our distributors for a long time, so I thought that this would be a good time to try to find it out as just another way to make sure that everything is timed right. Hypothetically, if a stock GSR with the distributor retarded as far as it will go, nets timing of, say, 8°, I can retard my dizzy all the way, check my timing & make sure that I'm where I need to be. Got it?
Now, if you can actually provide help, that would be great. If not, there's no need to **** with me.
