Cranking problem -- VERY ODD (solved)
'99 civic si. No mods/alarms/non-factory sound system.
Starter went out. Just replaced it. Started fine the first time on new starter, then went to start a second time and starter clicked once and car went dead -- no dash lights or anything when I moved the key to the on position.
Disconnected positive battery cable, and immediately reconnected. Turned key, and I had power again (so the battery wasn't actually dead). Started fine. Started fine the next few times. Then, after a few successful starts, I got the one-click and "dead" when trying to start. Again, I disconnected the positive battery cable and immediate reconnected. Again the car had power.
I'm baffled. Could it just be the new starter is bad? What would cause the car to act as though the battery is dead, but then I have power when I disconnect and reconnect positive cable?
FYI: THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE WITH THE BATTERY. The battery is fine, tested and doesn't die. This problem happened on two separate batteries (one-click and then no power). Almost seems like a fuse has been tripped?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PSH... of course this would be the problem. I guess the KISS (keep it simple stupid) always works.
Went through and cleaned all my grounds. Problem solved.
Thanks beecee18 for the additional input.
As for the others -- this is a car forum. Just stick to talking about cars. If you want an alarm, a turbo, a whatever, then get it. I don't, so don't worry about it.
