This project has been a long time in the making, but I've recently gotten back into it and figured I mindswell chronicle it on here.

A little background:
My friends and I had been wanting to get ahold of an N600 since we were in our early teens. The small size meant any power upgrades would be extremely effective, and we wanted something that we wouldnt have to dump a TON of money into. I belive it was our junior or senoir year when I took a vacation to North Carolina. On the trip there I was pulled over for having a tailight out. I found a backyard mechanic and pulled in to see if he had one. While he was rumaging through some boxes, I was walking around his backyard, where there were 20+ old cars sitting in tall grass. Thats when I saw it. A beat to hell N600. After the guy found a bulb for me I asked him how much he would want for it. He said $100 cash takes it. So I called my buddies, who promptly drove 7 hours through the night to pick it up.

Since then, weve gotten another one, thought about putting a d16 in it, built a subframe, put a vfr750 motor in it, converted it to RWD, cleaned up the body, made a fiberglass front end, and its mostly been sitting in my friends garage. Fast forward to present day. Im 25, recently bought a house with a 3 car garage and my friends parents have been trying to get the thing out of thier garage for a while now. He works a full time government job now and has a 65 ford falcon he puts most of his time into. So here I am now determined to get this thing how weve always wanted it.

I got a rediculous deal on a wrecked 07 Kawasaki ZZR600 that I figured would fit the bill for a powerplant, and I've been trying to at least devote an hour or two every week to working on it. So thats where we are now.

hey do you think you'll get the fenders to fit all the way back? it looks like you could but you still got that big *** motor poken, i was gonna cut mine back that 6 inches or so on that firewall step thing, i just want a d16 IN FRONT the only prob is moving evything pedals, steering...ect but i saw your build a while ago on that weird website its pretty cool with the one peice in-front... KEEP IT GOIN!

 

By the fenders do you mean the inner fender? The car will basically stay like it is. I will probably weld in some additional supports and I may change the front suspension, but the whole front will be fiberglass.

That's funny that you have seen my site, haha. I made that a looooong time ago and have never updated it. Thanks for the encouragement though. I am really excited to get this thing going

OK, so as you guys can probably tell, it's not like I get to work on this thing everyday, haha. Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I finally got this bad boy running. My plan now is to have it road ready in time for my wedding this October. As long as it's good, my fiancé agreed that we could drive it away from the ceremony! Keep in mind there is no exhaust manifold on in this video and it's a definitely a cold start here in baltimore.
