vtec wont work on my b16a in 94 dx
I got a b16a genII in my 94 civic dx with a chipped ecu, intake, header back to apexi n1 exhaust. lowered . If i hook vtec up to a switch you can hear it but if i hook it up straight to the ecu u dont hear it at all. what could be my problem? plus im throwing a code13 for a chipped ecu.(from phearable.net) can anyone help me out?
When you apply a direct 12v positive to your vtec solenoid you are energizing the coil allowing oil pressure to lock your rocker arm and using your vtec lobe on the camshaft...BUT your ecu is not changing from the low map to the high map.. pretty much leaning out your engine from the added air but lack of fuel.
Make sure your speed sensor is working, oil level, and ec is chipped properly.

If you can hardwire vtec to a switch, then it doesnt work when hooked to your ECU, its your ECU. Try a different ECU. MAF/TPS would cause misfires and not just a CEL. Did you research the code and see what others have had trouble with similar in the past? Are you using a jumper harness? Any frays/tears? Disconnected pins? You have to go through the trouble shooting process and eliminate everything that works and doesnt work.
