SOHC Vtec keeps on throwin a MAP Sensor code... HELP!!
My buddy has a 97 Civic EX, and it keeps on throwing a MAP Sensor code, and then the car will stall, and run like a bag of smashed asses... 
I know the running like *** is probably due to the ECU going into closed loop mode... But what can cause this? Here are his mods...
Iceman Intake
DC Header
HKS Exhaust
MSD SCI-L Ignition
Fields Vtec Controller
Jet ECU Upgrade
AEM FPR
STR Fuel Rail
He has already replaced the MAP Sensor. I told him its probably the ECU, so he sent the ECU back to Jet to get it reprogrammed, but it still does it... any ideas? I think maybe the vtec controller is interfering with the Jet ECU upgrade... but the vtec controller is turned off (Just in the front, not the power switch in the back of the vtec controller though)... I'm gonna go tonight and reset his idle, b/c maybe his idle screw switch is so far out of whack, its throwin a code for it... I'm also gonna try the old carb cleaner trick to check for a vaccuum leak... If he resets the ECU, the code will go away, and he can drive it normally... for anywhere from 1/2 mile, up to 2 days without the CEL comin back on...

its the vtec controller. trust me... i had the same 'gremlins' in my 95 DX coupe with a gs-r. make sure all of the connection wires are soldered and not crimped or twisted.

hmm.... i'll check that tonight... and i'll solder the connections for him, cause i'm almost POSITIVE he has not soldered them, and probably only crimped them... I remember havin the same gremlins with my vtec controller too now that i think about it... Hmmm....

Temporarily... if the code goes on while he is driving, he can put the key on 'ACC' for a quick second and then flick it back on the 'ON' position. This will temporarily take it out of 'limp mode'.

Most people think the Field's unit is crappy but its usually the 'installers' fault. After I soldered my wires, it ran perfect throwing no codes.

I had him flip the power switch off of the vtec controller (On the back) and it ran MUCH better he said... So i'm gonna go tonight and check all of his wiring, and go over the car... He wasn't too happy when i said he had to take out his vtec controller, considering its installed here:
But now that that is taken care of, I can fix his car now... I'm gonna go tonight, reset his ECU, reset his idle, reset his fuel pressure, re-solder the connections for the vtec controller, and try to reset his timing if i remember to grab a timing light... This is what he gets for letting his friend that works at honda work on his car...
