Default Help- Headlight motor malfunction

The Problem:
My 89 Accord....body style from 84 to 89.... Headlights pop up and open.
D-side headlight pops up and the motor keeps running, closing it and opening it.

It's embarrassing to "wink" my headlight to the deputy sheriffs
as I drive down the road in the dark.... LOL

It's almost like the "park" position on windshield wipers.
Instead of the headlight opening and "parking" in the open position,
the motor doesn't stop. It keeps running. The headlight keeps opening and closing.

Quick solution:
84 to 89 Accords have a dash switch that will open or will close the headlights without them being on. I switch-opened the headlights, then unplugged the under-hood
plug at the motor, effectively stopping the headlight from continuing to open or close.

The questions:
Can anyone direct me to a link that will help solve this problem?
Does anyone have a solution? Is it a wiring or motor problem?
I don't want to spend time on the wrong fix and then find it was the wrong one.
Thanks in advance.-Bob

86 to 89 have the flip up head lights (3rd gen), the 85 and 84 had a different set up, different gen.

Have a volt meter and some time?

Off the top of my head, sounds like a problem in the headlight motor controller. I think it detects a change in the resistance from the headlight retractor linkage as the motor turns so it knows when to shut it off. I had a somewhat similar problem involving the linkage and ended up manually popping up the headlights and leaving them there (pulled the fuses to the motors). Not an ideal solution but it beats not having headlights. I need to go to the junkyard sometime to look for some linkage parts but haven't had the energy to do so.
