I still have a lot of work to do on mine,of course, i have a broken back right now, so it's going to be a while, my plans are to powdercoat the manifold flat black, and to ceramic coat the header, when everything is said and done, i will pull the engine and paint the bay, i have stuff to hook up and finish, ill probably paint the brake lines black, I dont believe in hiding everything, the plug wires will also be black, the yellow are for mockup, it took a very long time to fit everything in this bay, i not only have the carbs, but i have an oil cooler and thermostat, and associated plumbing.

im kind of building a rat rod look, but with no rust, debating on yellow or black plug wires, lots of stuff will be black, these little cars dont have much room, i had to put the washer tank in the passenger foot well, you can see the cap that unscrews to fill it in the cowl, everyone thinks the tank is in there, the entire MSD box and rev limiter fit up under the dash, lots of the wiring is hid under the fender, the oil cooler blower is under the corner of the bumper, power steering filter is in the same place on the other side, stuff is hid everywhere, the vapor canister for example is on the front crossmember out of sight. everything in this bay came down to inches

about to order my black Morosso wires, i may just use black epoxy paint on my manifold , think Im going to run the connection from my brake booster to the inner fender, and the connection from the manifold to the inner fender, then put the check valve etc behind it out of view, this will clean up the area around the booster the rubber fuel line is also going, I have a hard line tube connector going in

I put the black morosso wires on, I still need some two wire spacers, looks much better then the yellow, I can't exactly hide the throttle cable and the choke cable, and clutch, and most of you guys have a a VSS and electronic speedo, I have a cable

I feel like you have a b-swap tied up in fittings! That's a lot of work man, cheers for figuring it all out.

Its just difficult to hide anything in such a small area, I hope to go all black lines one day, I also have a clutch cable, mechanical speedo cable, and choke cable that most guys with modern FI engines don't have to deal with, im changing a lot of stuff around the brake booster to clean it up a lot, im going to run bulkhead fittings on the inner fender, then the vaccume going from the manifold to the booster and such, will be mostly hidden, I could have run the fuel pressure regulator etc,in there, but you have the risk of a fire in even a minor collision

stuff like this drives me crazy, just an example of what Im working on a little at a time, the big hole in the fender will get replaced with an aluminum plate and a panel jack for a cannon plug, the cannon plug will replace the big ugly plastic plug on the wiper motor, then with a little heat shrink, all those wires will be covered up. ill run the little two wire plug for the brake level switch out the same plug, then instead of all of this, it will be a neat short harness. in the same plate, I can put a barbed nipple for the brake booster, then the brake booster hose will run cleanly into the fender, I can put all the connections for it,including the check valve, hidden inside of the fender. this allows the big vacuum line coming off the manifold, to go straight into the fender as well, much cleaner.

I happened to run across a long discontinued part on ebay, dealer was trying to unload it, this will help with my cleanup around the booster , looks a lot better then trying to clean up the old factory one. 5 bucks for a part discontinued ten years ago

its honda oem!
is it possible that my alternator regulator is getting overworked and voltage drops? i checked the source (alt) when the voltage dropped and it seems that the drop is at the alternator using a multimeter

i've got a little done today, the wiper motor is out, the fuel log is out, the extra plumbing around the booster is gone, time to get busy
this is the area I started with in the corner, the big ugly plastic plug is gone now,

motor wires are extended and heat shrunk

this is whats going in the aluminum plate thats covering the hole in the inner fender well, this and the fitting for the booster vacuum

this is the plug that was on the motor, I'll just solder it to the back of the panel jack on the plate, then it just plugs right into the factory harness. I just have to add one more two pin plug for the brake warning switch

fuel log is getting blasted tomorrow and repainted.

I'm probably going to wait until I pull the booster and master to paint this section under the hood, both are getting replaced anyway, I'll just pull everything back out, it's too hard to get in there with everything in the way.
it's going to be a son of a bitch to get this hard tube adapter on that hard fuel line buried up in there

I am so pissed, I FINALLY got the barb cut off that dam fuel line by the brake booster, you can barely move in there, and only turn the tubing cutter halfway at a time, so after ******* with it for a couple of hours, I grab the hard tube adapter and put it on, tighten t up, and it falls off, what the ****? I look at the package and it's not the earls 165056 which fits my fuel lines, which i ordered, but a russel 3/8 to -6 adapter, looks the same when you are pissed off and swearing at the dam thing, but why didnt i notice when i got it? i guess I just saw the blue and red and somehow assumed it was the earls, so now i know, russel hard tube adapter bad, earls hard tube adapter good

it's called carburetors, it means I have fuel lines, a choke cable, throttle cable, i have have a clutch cable, and a speedometer cable, most of the newer cars have a vss and a hydraulic clutch, and dont need any of the other stuff, I also have vacuum lines, and an oil cooler thermostat, and remote filter. this isn't just a shaved engine thread,it's a custom thread, I'm glad you are such a dick that you cant even ask me what anything is, the car isn' t done yet, when it's finished i'm pulling the engine and painting the bay. this thread is also about discussing anything related to custom engine bays

this is where the aluminum plate will go with the jack for the amphenol plug will go, also the fitting for the booster.
it should look something like this

the air cleaners for the SUs

the power steering reservoir

the filter is under the bumper corner

the remote filter and thermostat

my upper radiator hose clamp

when everything is figured out and done, the bay will get painted, holes welded up etc, the intake is going to be black, I'm thinking of even painting the SU domes black. I have a booster in better shape on the way, as well as another master cylinder, ill probably also paint the brake lines black

what ever happened to the custom part of this thread, i happen to like my engine to look industrial, and mechanical, I didnt just throw a bunch of stuff in here, it took a long time to fit everything, you move one thing, then you have to move something else, its a project, it's not done yet, everything isnt painted yet, or finished
